Beaches in Yogyakarta Jogja is not famous for its beaches.

Non the less does the coast offers some great beach scenarios ----- DO NOT SWIM there - very powerful currents!

The closest beach is Parangtritis beach. Rumor has it that The Queen of the South Sea "Nyai Loro Kidul" a legendary Javanese spirit has her hands in the doings on this beach. Truth is it is quite dangerous. The waves are high and the currents strong. I have been swimming there but locals will raise more then an eyebrow when you enter the water. But there are more quiet bays in close distance. more info HERE
